Truth Matters

Many people say that there is no ultimate truth and it's just relative to the situation. Jesus said He was the truth. Having no definite truth is kind of nice for some people because then they can make it be whatever they want it to be. Some say it's not about what you believe but just that you're sincere in your belief. I, on the other hand, think it definitely matters what you believe in.

A long time ago people believed that the earth stood still and the sun rotated around the earth. Today, we know that that is not true. What is true is that the earth revolves around the sun. Truth, I think, is like that. Many people think that they are the center and they can just pick the truth they want to revolve around them. I think truth is like the sun. It stands still and we move around it.

So how about you? What do you believe? Is there evidence that it is true or does it just fit in nicely to the way you want things to be? In order to have a well-lived life, we need to start with what is true and build our lives around that. Of course, you don't have to believe me if it doesn't fit in with how you decided to live your life.

I think truth is not really that hard to find once we decide to really look for it. Being a lover of truth is a very good way to live. And after all, why wouldn't you love something that is so good for you? When we understand how important truth is, we will always want to live in it. Then we will also be happy to share it with anyone who will receive it.

So what's my point? Many of us put far more time into our outward appearance than we do with what's inside. My point being this, that maybe we should spend more time knowing what we believe and why we believe it because truth matters.
